Bookish Birthday

It was my 39th birthday on Friday 13th.

I had a lovely day talking to family and friends on the phone, as I live about 7 hours drive away from most of them. I also received some lovely thoughtful gifts, but I thought I’d share with you the wonderful bookish gifts I got.

Here is the stack of paperbacks my hubby got me. The beautiful flowers in the background were sent to me by my grandma.

So many great choices. I can’t decide what to read first. Having only just seen the film of Me Before You, I may wait a while before I read that book, but having loved the film so much, I really wanted the book, so I can read it at some point.

These scrumptious book shaped chocolates and beautiful book necklace are from my best friend, who clearly understands how much I love books. Last year she bought me a beautiful paperback copy of Little Women, which I keep on display on my desk in my reading room.

I consider myself a very lucky birthday girl this year, even if I didn’t win on the EuroMillions šŸ˜‰ xxx

  1. Belated happy birthday! What lovely flowers and books, and your best friend is clearly marvellous because those choccies and necklace are amazing šŸ™‚
I have a few of those books on my TBR. The only one I’ve already read is Me Before You which I thought was very good – I hope you enjoy it.

    1. Thank you šŸ™‚ To be honest, that photo doesn’t do the flowers justice, as it only shows about half of them, and now the orange lilies have just started opening, the mix of colours are so beautiful. I’ve got them next to me all day while I’m working in my work room. So lovely to look at, especially when the weather is dull outside. I do have a marvellous best friend ā¤ I dare say you'll see me reviewing some of these books in the coming months.

    1. Thank you, Joanne šŸ™‚ My parents always brought me up to believe Friday 13th was my lucky day. Of course, that does leave me with rather a lot of unlucky days throughout the year, ha ha.
