#BookReview (5 Stars) – Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman @GailHoneyman

Blurb:

Eleanor Oliphant has learned how to survive – but not how to live

Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.

Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled life. Except, sometimes, everything.

One simple act of kindness is about to shatter the walls Eleanor has built around herself. Now she must learn how to navigate the world that everyone else seems to take for granted – while searching for the courage to face the dark corners she’s avoided all her life.

Change can be good. Change can be bad. But surely any change is better than… fine?

My Review:

I loved this delightfully funny, touching and sad story about family, friendship, loneliness and the very real and difficult challenge to fit in.

Eleanor Oliphant is a quirky and endearing character that I couldn’t get enough of. She definitely had some of me in her. I was laughing out loud at some of her opinions, because I could imagine me saying just the same thing.

This book was really hard to put down. What was meant to be just a couple of chapters one night, turned into about three hours of reading. Needless to say, this book led to a couple of very late nights.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy funny and endearing character led stories.
